Technology partner

We build custom software, connect systems and automate processes

We build the applications your business needs and cannot buy off the shelf, and we fix what you already have when it can no longer keep up: systems that do not talk to each other, data scattered across spreadsheets and manual work that repeats every week. With artificial intelligence when it earns its place and without it when it does not. We work directly for the company with the problem, and inside the teams of other consultancies and agencies, under their brand.

Who we are

A small consultancy by design, not by limitation

Fona is a core team with a network of specialists that assembles around what each project needs. No layers in between: the person who listens in the first meeting is the person who designs the solution and answers when something goes wrong.

We work where software meets the business. Systems that have run out of road, integrations nobody wants to touch, data scattered across six spreadsheets, servers and databases the same person has administered for years with no reinforcement, processes that have been asking for automation for years.

There are two ways in: as the technology partner of the company that has the problem, or embedded in the team of the consultancy, agency or manufacturer already running the project. Much of our work in recent years has been the second kind, and it shows in how easily we fit into a team that already exists.

Fourteen years in production, an MBA, and the habit of saying no when building is not the right answer.

About us

How we come in

Two ways to work with us

The engineering is the same either way. What changes is who owns the relationship with the end client, and whose brand goes on the front.

Companies that depend on their software

You have the problem and you make the call. We work with you end to end.

  • A fixed-price assessment before any large commitment.
  • Integrations, data, applied AI, DevOps and custom software, with one person answering for all of it.
  • Fractional technical leadership when what is missing is decisions, not hands.
  • Code in your repository and infrastructure in your accounts from day one.

Consultancies, agencies and studios

The project is yours and so is the client. We put a senior engineer inside your team.

  • We work white-label: your brand on the front, your methodology, your repository, your conventions.
  • We join as one more member of the team, with as much continuity as it takes and no commercial layer on top.
  • An NDA every time, and no contact with your client unless you ask for it.
  • We do not compete with the firms that subcontract us: your client stays yours, during and after.

Fractional CTO

Technical leadership without a CTO on the payroll

It is the engagement we get asked about most, and the one that changes a company the most: someone answering for technology in front of the board a few days a month, instead of a full-time role you cannot afford yet or that does not have enough work to fill.

  • Architecture, supplier and budget decisions made with judgement and put in writing.
  • A monthly fee proportional to the days agreed, with no hiring cost and no lock-in.
  • Real continuity: we answer for what we decide three months later.

Track record

Eleven organisations, nine industries

SaaS products, workplace health, telecontrol for municipal services, tourism, perimeter security, games. Some hired us directly; in others we worked inside the consultancy’s or the manufacturer’s own team.

  • Coaching and leadership development platform
  • Workplace mental health and wellbeing platform
  • Destination communication and tourism product consultancy
  • ICT engineering firm for telecontrol and municipal services
  • SaaS management product for photography studios
  • Marketplace for retreats and wellbeing experiences
  • Sports facility management operator
  • Document management consultancy for large accounts
  • FITUR, the International Tourism Trade Fair
  • Video analytics manufacturer for perimeter security
  • Game studio and gaming platform
  • Public logistics concessions company
  • FCC (Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas)
  • Aguas de Navarra
  • Several town councils
  • Regional governments

Why us

What makes us different from a typical agency

We talk to leadership, not just to IT

An MBA and three years as a fractional CTO are useful for translating in both directions: what a business decision implies technically, and what a technical decision really costs.

The problem picks the technology

We do not sell the same platform to everyone. We have delivered projects in PHP, JavaScript and Python, and sometimes the best recommendation is to build nothing and configure what already exists properly.

Applied AI, not showcase AI

We use language models daily in our own work. That makes it quick to tell the difference between a use case that will hold up in production and a demo that impresses in a meeting.

We fit inside the team, not next to it

We have spent years working embedded in other firms’ teams, with their brand on the front and their conventions. That means there is no new line of communication to set up and no two ways of working to reconcile: we join the repository that already exists.

No dependency when we finish

Code in your repository, infrastructure in your accounts, documented decisions and training for your team. If you ever want to change vendor, it should be a decision and not a rescue operation.

Method

We start by understanding, not by quoting

A short, fixed-price assessment before any large commitment. If the conclusion is that nothing should be built, we say that too.

  2. 02

    Technical and commercial proposal

  3. 03

  4. 04

FAQ

What people ask us before starting

Are you an agency or a consultancy?

An engineering consultancy. We do not run campaigns or manage social media: we build the systems that hold up a company’s operations. When marketing work is needed we bring in specialists rather than improvising it.

How many of you are there?

A small core team and a network of specialists who join according to the project: data, infrastructure, product design or development. That is deliberate — we would rather assemble the right team for each job than assign whoever happens to be free.

Do you work with small companies?

Yes, as long as there is a real problem that justifies the investment. Below a certain size we usually recommend configuring an existing tool properly, and we say so even when it means not billing for development.

Do you work for other consultancies and agencies?

Yes, and it is a significant part of what we do. We join your team as one more senior engineer: white-label, with your methodology, inside your repository, and invisible to your client unless you want otherwise. Always under an NDA, and with an explicit commitment not to go after your client, during the project or after it.

How do you bill?

A fixed-price initial assessment, then fixed price per phase, or a monthly fee for technical leadership. No expiring hour banks.

Do you work remotely?

Yes, with in-person meetings when the project calls for it. We work with clients across Spain, the European Union and beyond —we have experience with clients in the United States, Slovakia and France—, in Spanish, Catalan and English.

What if we already have a technical team?

All the better. We come in as technical leadership, as extra capacity for a specific push, or as specialists in one area — integrations, data, AI — working with your conventions and inside your repository.
